Money Just Showing Up February 24, 2005

It was great. Last night, we had our second session of “Making fFriends With Your Money. ” The feedback was great. One woman had people signing up for her service all week long and paying her lots of money, out of the blue.

Another uncovered a deep seated limiting belief that she was able to “tap” out and clear to open herself to receive more prosperity.

All this came about through doing a simple exercise where you keep a record of the money that comes into your life. Even the tiny amounts, since these represent that there is more abundance on it’s way to you.

My new “Making Friends With Your Money” class started locally last week with a small group of people. I thought it would be fun to share some of the ideas we’re covering about creating wealth and getting more control of your money here in my blog, if for no other reason that I’m not sure whatr else to do here:-)

It was amazing, although no big surprise, that most, if not all, of the group, myself included, had received negative, limiting messages about money growing up. Some of the comments were astounding.

What about you? What are your early money memories? What mesages did you receive from childhood? Did you receive positive, empowering messages regarding money or did you, like most of us, develop an unhealthy relationship with the money in your life? Feel free to add your commments here.

Don’t Let Other Peoples Walls Fence You In February 14, 2005

“How’s it going?” I asked the clerk in the new bookstore. “Well you know,” she replied “it takes a long time to build a business.” I caught myself just before I muttered in agreement and instead said, “Does it?” You see, the clerk is simply repeating a commonly held belief, a global belief that it takes a long time to build a business.

This is not a fact just simply a belief and limiting one at that. Unfortunately, it is held by enough people that would begin to believe it’s a fact. We are surrounded by limiting global beliefs. Throughout history, people have been held back by these beliefs. The world is flat, man cannot run a four-minute mile, man was not meant to fly and on and on until someone came along and disproved them. There is a commonly held belief that 80% of new businesses fail in their first five years.

Face Your Fears February 9, 2005

Yes, that’s me up there! Interestingly enough, I used to be deathly afraid of heights. I’m not suggesting para sailing is the best way to overcome a fear of heights but it worked for me. Sometimes, the only way through a fear is to meet it head on. That’s what I did in this case.

My wife, Georgia, and I were vacationing on Marco Island, Florida several years ago and I was sitting on the beach watching people flying in parachutes over the water. I thought to myself, “That looks like a lot of fun.” Then, the little voice inside reminded me that I had a lifelong fear of unsecured heights. Sure, I was fine in airplanes but to hang out in a parachute was more than I could imagine. READ MORE

Plant Your Garden February 7, 2005

“If we did all the things we are capable of doing,
we would literally astonish ourselves.”
Thomas A. Edison

There’s a saying in the computer industry GI–GO — “garbage in, garbage
out.” It means that you get out exactly what you put in. This principle
applies to our mind as well. Norman Vincent Peale, perhaps the most
well known proponent of positive thinking, has said that if you remove
all the negative thoughts from your mind, you must put something back
in their place. We simply cannot live in a mental vacuum. If we do not
replace the negative thoughts with something positive, they will
eventually return and we will slip back into our old negative thinking
patterns.

As James Allen said in his book, As A Man Thinketh, “A [person’s] man’s
mind may be likened to a garden, which may be intelligently cultivated
or allowed to run wild; but whether cultivated or neglected, it must
and will, bring forth.” If we want our lives to remain positively
directed, we must continually plant positive thoughts, affirmations and
sayings on a regular basis. Perhaps this is why I am constantly reading
motivational material, listening to tapes in my car, using affirmations
and trying to associate with positive people in general.

I have found that the quality of my life improves in direct proportion
to the amount of time I spend listening to or reading positive,
uplifting material. Maybe one of the reasons I write is that I need to
continually reaffirm these principles for myself. There is an old
proverb that says, “We teach best what we most need to learn”. If that
is the case with my writing, so be it. My desired outcome is that we
all benefit and grow from sharing these ideas.

As Wayne Dyer so beautifully puts it, “Everybody on the planet who is
on the side of helping to improve the quality of life for all people is
on my team.” We are, in fact, a team. We need to surround ourselves
with people who are equally committed to personal growth. It is
important to develop a network or support group of like–minded people.

With all the negativity around, it is extremely important for those of
us who are trying to focus on the good and promote positive ideas, to
share our experience and thoughts. This is truly a “win – win”
situation.
